From Solver to Supporter
Shifting from fixing problems to holding space for ongoing processes, relationships, and infrastructures.
Focus: Maintenance, long-term care, and sustaining ongoing systems.
For decades, design has positioned itself as the discipline of problem-solving. We define, frame, and attempt to fix. Yet many of today’s challenges, whether ecological systems, social initiatives, or community networks, are not problems with neat solutions. They require ongoing maintenance, care, and stewardship.
Supporters focus less on delivering one-off solutions and more on sustaining long-term efforts, holding space for ongoing processes, relationships, and infrastructures that need attention over time. Supporters understand that meaningful change is not a single moment but a continuous journey. They know that systems evolve, contexts shift, and needs change, and they dedicate themselves to accompanying that process patiently and persistently.
